Sentinel by Jamie Foley ~ Teenagers. Elementals. Strange happenings. A mythical world. An ancient religion. Sound awesome? I thought so too and I was not disappointed. Jamie brings her story to life with colorful characters in a complex world of her creation. The originality and creativity shine through on every page with endearing but unpredictable characters. Once you follow Darien Aetherswift into his everyday life gone wrong, there will be no putting this book down. I recommend this for both teens and adults.

Boundaries by Gloria Haines ~ For her first publication, Gloria's story is riveting, original, and well told. A thrilling blend of mystery and shadows that kept me interested all the way to the end. I expect much of this young author and loved getting to critique her story! :)

The Old River Road by Ivy Rose ~ I was honored to be able to critique this novel. For Ivy's first publication, she has woven a simultaneously heart-warming and heart-wrenching story. My love for the trials and triumphs of this story are only increased by the fact that it is a true story. The author does a tremendous job of conveying the era and the relationship between husband and wife, and her research is evident. I'm not sure I've ever laughed and cried so much while trying to pay enough attention to the mechanics of a book to give feedback. If I ever attempt to document my family's history, I hope to do half as well as Ivy Rose.

The Silent Blade by Jesseca Wheaton ~ An original, adventurous story about family loyalty and eroded friendships. While I was not able to wholly relate to the main character, she was all the more unpredictable because she was not like me. The setting and the atmosphere of the entire novel was beautiful. I was privileged to critique this book and was drawn in by the action, suspense, and themes Jesseca's story held even while in its drafting stages. As a finished novel, it can only be all the better.

  5. For fear of massive spoilers, I didn't read much of it, but I saw that you read If I Run by Terri Blackstock. Is it clean in the area of language and sexual content? I got the book and I want to read it, but I'm not sure about the content levels. One of my friends said it's clean, but I figured a second opinion wouldn't hurt. :D

    1. Yes, it's a clean book! :) I don't remember there being any language, so if there was any it was probably religious and infrequent. But I highly doubt there's any. For sexual content, I know one character is in a bad situation with a child (so something bad happened at some point) and I believe there is a passing remark that someone is viewing porn on a public library computer. The entire point of that is the fugitive character isn't a "bad" person, because she points that out. Other than that, I can't think of anything other than suspense and intensity! Not too bad, though. You're smart to wait until the sequel is released ;)

    2. Oh my goodness, thank you sooo much for your feedback. :D it's so nice to be able to get a good, wholesome Christian review, so thanks. Lol, I wasn't planning on waiting till the sequel's release, I guess it just happened because I didn't know about the book until last month when I got it? But I can't wait for its sequel since there is one!
